Many Ukrainian Christians  celebrated Christmas on 25 December for the first time this year and as they did over 100 years ago

Ukraine has traditionally used the Julian calendar, also used by Russia, where Christmas falls on 7 January.
In a further shift from Russia, it is now marking Christmas according to the Western - or Gregorian - calendar, which it uses in everyday life.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky changed the law in July, saying it allowed Ukrainians to "abandon the Russian heritage" of celebrating Christmas in January.
In a Christmas message issued on Sunday evening, Mr Zelensky said all Ukrainians were now together.
"We all celebrate Christmas together. On the same date, as one big family, as one nation, as one united country."
In the capital Kyiv, married couple Lesia Shestakova, a Catholic, and Oleksandr Shestakov, who is Orthodox, are celebrating Christmas together.

The signing ceremony took place after a joint prayer service by Bartholomew and Primate of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine Epiphanius in the Church of St. George on the territory of the Ecumenical Patriarchate in Istanbul. Tomos is a patriarchal charter that officially confirms the canonical autocephalous status of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine as one of the 15 local Orthodox churches in the world. This document is issued once and is the basis of the church. It is valid from the moment of its signing.

In 1583 he visited
Vienna and Kraków, where he showed the Emperor his latest inventions. He then returned to Lviv, where he died on December 16, 1583; he was buried there on the grounds of the Saint Onuphrius Monastery.
