In 2026, Ukraine will mark significant anniversaries like the 170th of writer Ivan Franko's birth, the 100th of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra reserve's founding, and the 150th of composer Mykola Leontovych's birth, with national recognition.

The  Kyievo-Pecherska Lavra  also known as the Kyiv Monastery of the Caves, is a historic lavra or large monastery of Eastern Christianity that gave its name to the Pecherskyi District where it is located in Kyiv.

Since its foundation as the cave monastery in 1051, the Lavra has been a preeminent center of Eastern Christianity in Eastern Europe

On 23 July 2025 a religious service in Ukrainian language, the first of that kind in many years, was performed in the Far Caves of Kyiv Pechersk Lavra by Metropolitan Epiphanius of Kyiv.
Ivan Yakovych Franko (Ukrainian: Іван Якович Франко,  (August 27 [. August 15] 1856 – May 28 [ May 15] 1916) is a Ukrainian poet, writer,  journalist, interpreter, economist, political activist, doctor of philosophy, ethnographer, the author o the first detective novels and modern Ukrainian poetry
He was a political radical, and a founder of the socialist an nationalist movement in western Ukraine. In addition to his own literary work he translated the works of such renouned figurs as William Shakespeare, Lord Byron, Pedro Calderón de la Barca, Dante Alighieri, Victor Hugo, Adam Mickiewicz and others. Along with Taras Shevchenko, he has had a tremendous impact on modern literature and political thought in Ukraine.

"Ne pora" ("This Is Not the Time") is a famous patriotic poem by Ukrainian writer and activist Ivan Franko, written around 1880, that became a rallying cry for Ukrainian national identity, urging people to focus on strengthening their nation rather than engaging in petty conflicts, with its powerful lines encouraging love for Ukraine above all else, often quoted in political discourse.
NE PORA

It's not time, it's not time, it's not time
To shed one's blood for the ignorant
And to love the tsar who is robbing our people, —It's not the time

It's not the time, It's not the time, It's not the time
The Muscovite and Pole to serve!
Unbearable's Ukraine's grievance of old
It is time, for us to live, for Ukraine

It's not time, it's not time, it's not time
To bring discord into the family home!
Let the cursed ghost of discord disappear!
Let's unite under the Ukrainian flag!

Mykola Leontovych (1877-1921) was a renowned Ukrainian composer, conductor, and teacher, famous for his over 150 choral works, especially his arrangement of the Ukrainian folk song, 'Shedryk',known globally as the 'Carol of the Bells'. A master of a cappella music, he blended Ukrainian folk traditions with rich harmonies, creating liturgical music and arrangements that made him a beloved figure, tragically assassinated by a Soviet agent in 1921.
